Toddler Apron (Vintage Tie Apron)

A few weeks before my niece’s 3rd birthday, my sister in law asked me if I would like to make an apron for her daughter. I said, “Awesome. Yes.” So the search began (on Pinterest) to find a cute apron that was functional. I came upon this site that had an adorable Vintage Tie (sides) – Toddler Apron! PLUS, the tutorial was free! Gotta love that!! Well here is my version of a great sewing project…

I loved how I was able to just print off the pattern, and in no time flat get to work on some cuteness. The only thing I made different what the middle section – for extra length and make it interesting. NOT that it doesn’t already have a lot going on. Did I mention it is reversible? Yes. Totally. AND machine washable!

Another thing to note, 1 yard of material for two fabrics makes two aprons. SO I made a second one for her little sister. Woot! I loved the pattern so much I’m in the process of making a third apron for Thing 2 (he is the same age as his cousins), but the fabric has “Cars”, the movie, on it. Don’t think he would go for pink. ha!

Here is a close up look at the buttons I got – to go along with the pattern. (Which was at JoAnn Fabrics, by the way) …

I think the buttons were what made it a hit with my niece. She loved them so much she pretended to “eat” them. I am excited to see what fun stuff she will be making with her mommy in the kitchen. Aww… I love that girl!

I encourage you to check out Smashed Peas and Carrots. If you like this pattern, there are other cute projects and tutorials as well!
